Global Pandemic COVID-19: Karachi, Sukkur airports to be close from March 24 for domestic flights

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) decided on Monday to close Jinnah International Airport in Karachi and Sukkur’s airport for all domestic flights from March 24 till April 4 as a preventative measure to limit the spread of Coronavirus in the country, as much as possible.

The notification issued by the CAA clearly said that the airports will remain closed for all types of Domestic Incoming / Outgoing Passenger Flight Operations with effect from Tuesday, March 24, 2020, 0100 UTC/ 0600 PST till April 4, 2020.

The decision was taken when the lockdown was imposed in the province of Sindh to limit the spread of Global pandemic Novel Coronavirus that has affected more than 800 people in the country, including the Education Minister of Sindh Saeed Ghani, and 6 deaths are reported.

Pakistan International Airline (PIA) has also canceled all flight operations from Karachi and Sukkur. In contrast, other airlines have also been informed about the decision.

On March 21, the federal government of Pakistan decided to suspend international flights coming into Pakistan till April 4.

The decision has left many Pakistani travelers stranded at airports across the globe.
