Shameen Khan is currently seen in much anticipated and loved show Khuda aur Mohabbat 3 which is the third installment of the series and still ruling the hearts of audiences. Plot of Khuda Aur Mohabbat 3:
Khuda Aur Mohabbat season 3 is a spiritual romantic television drama series. The story revolves around the main protagonists of the show, Mahi and Farhad. Farhad and Mahi belong to different cultural and financial backgrounds. Mahi comes from a very conventional and dominant family who has a responsibility to keep up with her family’s class. She has a jolly and jovial nature. Nonetheless on the contrary, Farhad belongs to small town and has fallen in love with Mahi’s charismatic character and abandons everything for her.
Mahi acknowledges and appreciates his feelings but denies to have same feelings for Farhad. In the pursuit of winning Mahi’s heart Farhad meets his Creator, The Almighty and forms a special bond later becomes the devotee of love.
The story is to find the love for the creator in the quest of finding the love of soulmate in this world.
Shameen Khan’s role in Khuda Aur Mohabbat 3:
The show has aired six episodes only and Shameen Khan has a small cameo role of a maid named Sajal which is being loved and appreciated by the audiences. She plays a character of strong headed girl who hails from a village and works for wealthy and affluent family. She has a beautiful outlook that makes her fit into every character she chooses to portray.
In an interview she opened up about selecting this role for her. Her friends warned her about choosing the character of a maid as it might cause her to be stereotyped in the role for rest of her career. She was anxious as well as skeptical about the role.
She was left in the awe after she saw her fans response on her character and they loved every bit of Sajal ( role played by Shameen). In an interview she told:
“I was really happy when I received the call for Khuda Aur Mohabbat 3 and I thought this is going to be my time to shine. I visited the office where Wajahat Hussain, the director of the show narrated my character to me and I was left bewildered that the character of the girl is really small and unimportant. I was confused about performance margin in the show. When I asked about my performance the director said I am unable to explain it to you but when you will read the script then you will realize about the real character performance and role. Director insisted me to read the script. Director told me that he wants me to do this role.”
She further gave more details about all her ambiguities and increasing confusion by seeing a very less and compact script of her role in Khuda Aur Mohabbat 3. Later, all her ambiguities were cleared after reading the script carefully. She later added:
“ I went home and immediately grabbed a pen and started reading the script. After I read the script I realized what the real character was about and obviously it would not be easy for anyone to understand the character until they read the script as the character was of a girl hailing from small town in Bahawalpur brought up in rich family as a caretaker of the house.”
She told that she fell in love with the character and the dialogues. And immediately thought that she would do the character. But when she started taking advices from her friends they had different views about her taking the character. She said:
“I thought I would do the character but when I started taking advise from my friends in industry they warned me about doing a character of a maid. They said,’ You might get stereotyped into this character of maid for rest of your career.’ I already had fallen in love with the character and I wanted to do it because it was impactful. So, I took it.”
She was confused and double minded after taking advises from friends but she was confident that if she would play this character it is going to be the best. She was excited about outdoor shoots in Bahawalpur and she loves travelling for work. She is all flattered about the love and positive response she is getting from her fans. Audience is loving her character and people can’t stop appreciating her for the unique portrayal of the Punjabi girl. She worked hard on her language as she does not speak Punjabi Language frequently so she is unable to speak fluently as well. She talks about her language learning journey as well:
“I had never spoken Punjabi before so, I reached out to my friend Sheharyar who is a model and speaks Punjabi fluently. I used to send him all my dialogues and he would translate then into Punjabi accent which I used to memorize and speak. I would mold and deliver the dialogues according to the situation of the character. Director was also very helpful in delivering a dialogue and he was very patient with me while I used to reverse my dialogues.”

In the interview Shameen Khan discloses that she loved the character because it was impactful although it had very less screen time. She immediately said yes to the character of Sajal after reading the script and then she understood the impact of the girl in the show.
